NEW YORK – 6 FEBRUARY 2018 – Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo is pleased to announce a three-day exhibition of exceptional timepieces at Opera Gallery in the Miami Design District. On view from 16-18 February, the public viewing will take place as part of Watches & Wonders Miami, a highly anticipated event hosted by the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) and the Miami Design District Associates (MDDA), which will offer discussions, viewings, seminars, and cocktails for watch collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Phillips will be exhibiting highlights from their Spring 2018 auctions - most notably, a curated selection of Rolex Daytonas from their highly anticipated Daytona Ultimatum sale, and exceptional timepieces from Geneva Watch Auction: SEVEN, including several rare and complicated Patek Philippe wristwatches. In addition to the exhibition of these exquisite watches, Phillips’ specialists will also be on site to answer any questions and provide complimentary valuations for attendees’ own timepieces.  Paul Boutros, Phillips’ Head of Watches, Americas and International Strategy Advisor, will also be hosting a seminar on 19 February, discussing the market for vintage watches and the auction process for collectors.

“Phillips is dedicated exclusively to the world’s finest collectors’ watches and Miami is an important region for this growing market,” said Paul Boutros. “The exhibition during Watches & Wonders Miami will provide an exciting opportunity for collectors to meet our specialists, see some of the rarest and most exclusive collectors’ watches in the world, and receive free valuations for their own timepieces.”

In the three years since its founding, the Phillips watch department has become the global market leader, with sales of $113 million in 2017. They have also boosted their market-leading share among the major auction houses to a remarkable 47% and held their first-ever auction in New York this past October. The year was capped by the triumphant sale of Paul Newman’s Rolex “Paul Newman” Daytona, which sold for $17.8 million and set a world-record price for a wristwatch sold at auction.  Phillips also holds records for the highest result ever achieved for a Patek Philippe wristwatch at auction and the highest result ever achieved for any wristwatch sold at auction in Asia.
