Yossi Milo Gallery Presents Doron Langberg's Solo Exhibition

Gallery

Doron Langberg (Israeli, b.1985) creates large-scale portraits from observation of family, close friends and lovers. Thinking of queerness as a lens rather than a subject matter, Langberg contextualizes queer sexuality and intimacy within a larger narrative of everyday scenes. Often in repose, his figures come in and out of focus, becoming part of their luminous and heavily textured environments.

The pulsating sense of light and materiality gives the viewer an insight into Langberg’s subjects’ state of mind, his relationship to them, and their relationship to each other. In Langberg’s work, queer lived experiences, once seen as only capable of representing the experiences of queer people, become expansive. Generous and compelling, Langberg’s paintings both question and share in the metaphorical and emotional resonance that the history of painting traditionally attributed to straight love and desire.

This will be the artist’s premiere exhibition at the gallery and the first solo show of painting at Yossi Milo Gallery.
