After a two-year hiatus, The Boston International Fine Art Show returned in grand style on Thursday evening with its preview gala. The fair, which runs from October 20 to 23, is being held at The Cyclorama, Boston Center for the Arts. The circular 15,000 square-foot space beautifully accommodates the more than 40 galleries plus15 artists presented in the fair's juried "Emerge" suite. Below are 10 photos from the Preview Gala. With works ranging from Mary Cassatt and Gilbert Stuart to today's most innovative contemporary artists, this is a show not to be missed.
Collectors and exhibitors were thrilled to be back at The Boston International Fine Art Show after its two year hiatus.
The 2022 Boston International Fine Art Show has works that range from the traditional to contemporary. Works vary in price from the more affordable up to several million dollars. Gallerists Thavic Louanlavong, Leonard Parco, and Stephen Keokhanthachone representing Parco Fine Art, shown here, are specializing in historic artists of Cape Ann.
The preview gala was an upbeat affair with live music. During regular show hours, visitors can browse art and get a bite to eat at the show's catered café. Valet parking is also available.
This pastel on paper by Mary Cassatt is one of the many treasures on display at the fair. This work, Portrait of Master St. Pierre as a Young Boy from 1906 is being sold by Guarisco Gallery.
This painting, The Cape, by Panos Ghikas (1924-2012) is just one example of the countless 20th century works on display. Ghikas' work is held in major museum collections across the United States, but this painting was being offered for less than $10,000 by Fichera Fine Art. It sold quick!
Douglas Gold and Eli Sterngass of Lincoln Glenn are featuring American art 1880-1980, including American Modernism, Impressionism, and the Hudson River School.
As one might expect at a New England art fair, there is plenty of art representing the sea! This 1879 work is by Archibald Cary Smith (1837-1911) and is titled Racing Yacht "Comet" Off New York. It is being offered for sale by Avery Galleries.

This remarkable mosaic by American contemporary artist Doug Powell is created from up-cycled computer keys of the late Audrey Hepburn. Within the work are quotes from Ms. Hepburn including "Life is a party, dress for it.'
