This exhibit is a celebration of women. The creators and the creations. It's an engaging weave of abstract, figurative and conceptual. Two quotes embrace the energy of the exhibit. One from Frida Kahlo when she said, "I am happy to be alive as long as I can paint." And the other from Joan Miro when he said, “The works must be conceived with fire in the soul but executed with clinical coolness.” The abstract artists bring a vibrancy and depth to their palettes while the figurative artists tell a story through composition and imagery. The timing of the exhibit is ideal as it coincides with the celebration of the 100 year anniversary of the 19th amendment giving women the official right to vote. Or, in other words, to have a voice. Sometimes art and politics do make the perfect bedfellows.
