Additionally, a retrospective of Newsted’s visual art and music career is on display at the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County in downtown Lake Worth as part of their 40th anniversary celebration.
A world class art fair, the second annual Palm Beach Modern+Contemporary Art Fair gathers over fifty international galleries offering exceptional contemporary and Post-War artwork. This five day fair opens Thursday, January 11th, with a VIP Preview benefiting The Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society, The Joe Namath Neurological Research Center and the Ann Norton Sculpture Garden. Musical events and retrospectives of contemporary artists add to the appeal, including a showcase of animal sculptures by paper artist Chie Hitotsuyama.
Kicking everything off, rock ‘n’ roll icon and Grammy Award winning bassist Jason Newsted (formerly of Metallica) and Amir Tal of The Chophouse Band, gave an evening performance at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens on January 10th. Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary is also presenting The Chophouse Band on January 12th at the Cultural Council in nearby Lake Worth.
As a complement to the fair, the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens is hosting a commemorative special exhibit celebrating Israeli-born artist Boaz Vaadia (1951-2017). Featuring monumental and small-scale sculptures, the special exhibit is on display through April 2017, courtesy of Sponder Gallery. A complimentary daily shuttle service will be available between the fair and the Gardens during general show hours.
