A landmark $11.75 million gift to the Cincinnati Art Museum to establish the Alice Bimel Endowment for Asian Art was announced at the museum’s 137th Annual Meeting of the Shareholders of the Cincinnati Museum Association on May 15. The largest single monetary gift in the museum’s history, the endowment will enhance collections in the arts of South Asia, Greater Iran and Afghanistan.
First U.S. Museum Exhibition of Experimental Dutch Designer
The Harvard Art Museums have acquired an unparalleled collection of 443 printer’s proof photographs from Gary Schneider and John Erdman, establishing the museums as a primary site for the study, research, exhibition, and interpretation of contemporary photography. The collection will be featured in the exhibition Analog Culture: Printer’s Proofs from the Schneider/Erdman Photography Lab, 1981–2001, opening in May 2018 at the Harvard Art Museums.

The Seattle Art Museum presents Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors (June 30–September 10, 2017), exploring the contemporary Japanese artist’s 65-year career.
